These commands cut or copy the selection and paste.

Select objects and/or folders through the tree view or the 3D scene. Then cut or copy and paste.

Paste to another instance of the application

  • Data are not copied to the OS clipboard, both instances will communicate when pasting:

    • the source instance must stay opened while pasting.

    • the data must not be modified from cutting/copying until the end of the pasting. Modified objects will not be pasted.

    • both instances must be opened by the same software version.

    • commands must be closed in both instances when pasting.

    • Pasted data are temporary copied in the software temp folder while pasting: the paste will fail if this drive is full.

Keep also in mind that duplicating data in two instances could make you also lack RAM.

  • Data will be scaled at paste when source and target units are different.

  • Default folders cannot be duplicated when they are pasted at the root level. Otherwise, they become standard folders. In other words, when you paste a default folder, it will be merged with the corresponding default folder in target instance.

Common behavior (Paste to the same instance/Paste to another instance)

  • The paste operation must be done immediately after a cut or a copy.

  • Pasted objects are:

    • either inserted at root level, if not specified.

    • or inserted in selected folder.

  • Cut objects are sent to the Recycle Bin.

  • Default folders are ignored when cutting.

Any object can be cut/copy/paste except the World Coordinate System (WCS) and a CloudWorx cloud.

Some objects may be linked to other objects in the project. In this case, copies must include all elements related to those objets.

  • Report Data must be copied with their respective folder in order to generate a valid report.

  • View Sets must be copied with the associated visible elements
