Profile along a Path

images/download/attachments/122259509/CmdMeshExtrusionProfileAlongPath.svg

This command creates a 3D mesh, corresponding to a profile extrusion along a path.

Requirements

  • Select only a profile: in this case, you will have to select a path inside the command

  • Select first a profile and then a path: in this case, nothing can be selected inside the command

Both profile and path can be a polyline, a CAD wire, a CAD curve, or a linear geometry.

  1. Check Close extremities, if you want a closed mesh as output

  2. Check Make perpendicular to the path if you want the profile to extrude to be perpendicular to the first vector of the path.

  3. Check Turn with the curve if you want the shape to be oriented according to the curve all along the path.

    1. Check Lean on a path if you want to select a second path in order to fix the last degree of freedom not constrained during the extrusion: the rotation along the path.

  4. Check Set profile as starting position if you want the extrusion to start at the profile position instead of path position.

Notes

  • Close extremities is available only if the profile is planar and closed, and if the path is not closed.

  • To be relevant, Make perpendicular to the path must be used when the profile is roughly perpendicular to the path.
