This command displays a "Manipulator" in order to move / rotate / translate / scale your selection manually and efficiently with the mouse.

Requirements

Select the object(s) you want to move and launch the command.

Each color corresponds to an axis of the coordinate system active when you enter the command: Red for the X direction, Green for the Y direction and Blue for the Z direction.

  1. Move your selection by clicking the orange ball at the center of the manipulator.

  2. Translate your selection along an axis by clicking the corresponding axis.

  3. Rotate your selection by clicking a point on a circle.

  4. Scale your selection by clicking one arrow extremity. Three scales mode are available:

    • Global Scale: the shape is not modified, you decrease / increase the global size of the selection, so you keep proportions (all arrows extremities are moving).

    • Axial Scale: the shape is modified only in one direction but with an axial symmetry (both arrows extremities of the corresponding axis are moving).

    • Semi-axial Scale: the shape is modified for only one side in one direction (only one arrow is moving).

  5. You can change the manipulator view: classic (with entire circles) or light (with smaller controllers).

You can adjust rotation axis with the three rotation sliders in the dialog box. You can also adjust the "Manipulator" center with the three translation sliders. If needed, you can reset the position and axis with the reset button.

Notes

Accurate modification of a geometrical shape is not done using Free Move command, but using Construct \ Edit also available in the Contextual menu or double clicking on the shape.
