Extract Plans is the second step of the Scan to Plan workflow. This command draws plans and elevations, with semi-automatic and manual modes, corresponding to defined slices.

Requirements

The command launches when clicking Next on the Slice Definition step.

  1. Choose the slice to work on.

  2. There are 3 extraction methods:

    1. Extract: automatic mode to extract a polyline in the middle of the layer of points from one clicked point.

      1. Set the Resolution: give a distance larger than the thickness of the layer of points but lower than the wall thickness.

      2. Check Simplified Extraction to optimize the number of detected vertices.

      3. Click one seed points per contour. After each extraction, the tool switches automatically to Edit mode.

    2. Quick Draw: semi-assisted mode to draw connected lines aligned along the X or Y axis of the current UCS.

      1. Set the Resolution: give a distance larger than the thickness of the layer of points but lower than the wall thickness.

      2. Set the Threshold: if dX (or dY or dZ) of the extracted segment is lower than this threshold, extracted segments will be modified to be parallel to the current UCS axes.

      3. Click one seed point per edge:

        1. the first click initializes the polyline,

        2. next ones will extend it,

        3. press DEL to cancel the last extraction,

        4. press ESC to cancel and exit the tool,

        5. press C to close the polyline,

        6. or press ENTER to validate the tool and switch to Edit mode.

    3. Draw: draw manually the polylines using Draw Polyline tool.

  3. Improve and complete the polyline thanks to Edit Polyline . Or double click on a polyline to edit it.

  4. If necessary, split the polyline at given points:

    1. press DEL to cancel the last given point,

    2. press ESC to cancel and exit the tool,

    3. or press ENTER to validate and exit the tool.

  5. If necessary, copy/paste polylines for repetitive objects:

    1. select the polylines,

    2. define the base point,

    3. define target points,

    4. press DEL to cancel the last copy,

    5. press ESC to cancel and exit the tool,

    6. or press ENTER to validate and exit the tool.

  6. All the extracted polylines are in Outputs list. You can rename, zoom on, delete, change color and hide each one.

  7. You can bulk Copy all extracted polylines from the selected slice to another one (only in Advanced mode).

  8. You can change polylines directions with Reverse.

  9. Previous validates the polylines and opens the first step of the workflow: Slice Definition.

  10. Next validates the polylines and starts the third step of the workflow: Export Plans.

  11. Exit validates the polylines and quits the workflow. Note that you will be able to resume the workflow later.

Notes

  • We recommend to give seed points on straight areas for good extraction results.

  • FloorPlanner: the wall will be created on the left side of the polyline. If necessary, select the polylines and click Reverse button to change their orientation.
