Best Symmetry Plane

This command computes the best symmetry plane from the input object.

Select the object (mesh or cloud) on which you want to compute a best symmetry plane and an initial plane. Then, launch the command.

The input plane must be close to the output expected symmetry plane.

  1. Define, or not, some constraints for the best symmetry plane.

    1. If you do not define any constraints, the input plane is used as an initialisation for the output plane calculation

    2. If you define constraints, you can choose to:

      • constraint the center of the input plane so that it does not move: the output plane will pass by this point

      • keep the orientation of the plane X axis (refer to the reference frame displayed on the input plane to see which axis will be kept). This option is interesting, for example, if the best vertical plane is requested.

      • keep the orientation of the plane Y axis (same as the Y axis but with a perpendicular axis)

      • disable rotations: the output plane will be parallel to the input plane

  2. Click Preview to see the result, OK to validate or Cancel to exit.
