This command smooths the selected mesh by adding new vertices in order to better draw curvatures areas.

Select the mesh to treat and launch the command.

  1. Enter the Deviation error you want to respect between your result and a surface interpolated. The smaller this value is, the more triangles will be created.

  2. Select the option Refine on free borders if you want also to refine triangle along holes or along the external border. If this option is not selected, free borders will not change.

  3. Select the option Preserve sharp edges if you don't want to modify sharp edges from your mesh (the function may smooth them). If the option is selected, triangles, with one angle less than or equal to a Angle between facets, will not be refined.

  4. Enter a Maximum number of triangles in order to control the result weight.

  5. Click Preview to see the result, validate the command with OK, or, discard changes with Cancel.

On this picture, you can see before and after refining on a sphere. On the left the original mesh, with only 256 facets; on the right the refined sphere.

This command refines the original sphere by adding triangles in order to respect the entered deviation error. The deviation error is the maximum distance between the refined sphere and the interpolated sphere.
