This command allows you to compute localized settlements as defined in API 653 standard (Appendix B.2.5).

The idea is to use a virtual ruler that rotates around its center in order to highlight localized depressions and bulges below it, on the tank bottom plate.

Before launching this command you should use Separate Shell command to isolate the bottom plate of the tank.

Select the bottom plate mesh and launch the command.

  1. Define the Ruler dimension.

  2. Define the Tolerance:

    1. if Use API 653 tolerance is checked, the tolerance is automatically computed using API653 recommendation (0.37xR, where R is the radius in feet of the circular inspected area)

    2. otherwise, another tolerance value can be freely defined

  3. Press Preview to see the results.

  4. Validate and exit the command with OK.

The calculated inspection value is local. It means that for each point we only consider its neighbors within a maximum distance of half the ruler dimension.

A default color map is proposed with 3 thresholds:

  • green for points inside the tolerance

  • red for points above the tolerance and corresponding to bumps

  • blue for points above the tolerance and corresponding to hollows
