Separate Shell

This command is used to isolate the shell from the rest of the tank.

To enter the command, a tank project must already exist. If several projects exist, first select the corresponding project in which you want to work.

The command splits the tank mesh in 3 meshes:

  • the roof

  • the shell

  • the bottom plate

The lines that limit the shell and other meshes from the shell are also given as result of this command.

If the automatic computation fails it is possible to use other tools. For example:

  • It is possible to draw lines that delineate the shell from the roof and the bottom plate using Single Breaking Line command (in the Polyline menu), and then run the Separate Shell command with those selected lines.

  • It is also possible to segregate the different parts with the Meshing \ Constraint Mesh command (in the Mesh menu).

Tip & Trick

The line that represents the circumference of the bottom plate can be selected and used to launch Differential Settlements command. Afterwards, points will be extracted from this line.
